Welcome to the GFA

Welcome to the web site of The Gliding Federation of Australia Inc.

This web site is tailored to GFA members services and function. Non members may find more useful information about the sport by visiting www.soaring.org.au and our 'How to start Gliding ' page.

Site registration and log-in is required for several features. Access to contacts, financial information, adding news and events all require log-in. Authors of various areas also require log-in. New content will not be viewable until published by an administrator.

Site navigation is provided with breadcrumb trails at the top of page. In addition there is a site map available from the menu with links to all listed headings. A site search facility is also provided for search on a key word or string. The site structure is based on the GFA structure, so if you want a particular document, think which department it pertains to, then look through the documents area of that section. Most files are in alphabetic by title/subject, or chronological if papers of record like minutes. Newly added pages are summarised on the front page left margin.

Call for FAI awards from ASAC

Please find attached information on the ASAC and FAI awards available to members of your organisation. Normally there would be more notice; however with the Mid Year Board meeting being brought forward by a few weeks, we will need to ask for nominations by the 26th March 2010 please.

Each organisation is strongly encouraged to nominate those individuals or groups that they believe are deserving of the awards. It is important that Australians are recognised on the international stage.

Additional guidance is provided in the FAI extract document. Ideally submissions should be 250 words.

Please return by email of fax. To keep a track of this activity, a response stating that there are nil nominations would be appreciated.

Many thanks for your assistance.

 2009/10 soaring calendar front cover
The 2010/11 GFA calendar is planned for release July 2010. Photographic material is being sought for inclusion and full recognition will be printed to the contributor along with camera settings if provided.  If you have one or two photo's you are proud of and think should be enjoyed by others in the sport, please send a high resolution image to Al Sim for consideration and inclusion.

A call is also being asked of supporting advertisers for inclusion in this edition. GFA has received positive feedback on the style and quality and would like to move to a page a month for the coming edition.  This naturally relies on content support by way of photographs, or perhaps poetry, but also support from regular advertisers to gliding which would assist to minimise the cost to the GFA membership for such a production.  Contact Al again for details on advertising space, options, material submission, type setting and layout requirements.  We hope to get this edition fully subscribed with advertisers support.
